O registro foi feito em dezembro de 2016, quando o policial Mevl\u00fct Mert, que estava de folga, atirou contra o embaixador da R\u00fassia Andrei Karlov em uma sala de exposi\u00e7\u00f5es, em Ancara. Na imagem, o assassino aparece com a pistola na m\u00e3o e o dedo em riste. Na ocasi\u00e3o, ele gritava: \u201cN\u00e3o se esque\u00e7am de Alepo. N\u00e3o se esque\u00e7am da S\u00edria\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 360px\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bolsadearte.com\/oparalelo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/113_Felipe-Dana_The-Associated-Press-1.jpg\" width=\"350\" height=\"242\" \/><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Felipe Dana &#8211; The Associated Press<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A foto esteve envolvida em certa pol\u00eamica e dividiu opini\u00f5es. O pr\u00f3prio presidente do j\u00fari \u2013 Stuart Franklin, tamb\u00e9m fot\u00f3grafo \u2013 se op\u00f4s \u00e0 escolha. Segundo ele, conceder o pr\u00eamio mais importante ao registro de um assassinato premeditado \u00e9 amplificar a sua mensagem. No entanto, a maioria prevaleceu e a foto foi selecionada. O j\u00fari do concurso \u00e9 independente e a sua decis\u00e3o \u00e9 sempre respeitada pela Funda\u00e7\u00e3o World Press Photo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cFoi uma decis\u00e3o muito, muito dif\u00edcil, mas no final a maioria sentiu que a foto era uma imagem explosiva e muito representativa do \u00f3dio contempor\u00e2neo. N\u00f3s realmente achamos que ela resumia o que uma World Press Photo do Ano deve ser e representar\u201d, afirmou Mary F. O j\u00fari distribuiu pr\u00eamios em oito categorias para 45 fot\u00f3grafos de 25 pa\u00edses: Austr\u00e1lia, Brasil, Canad\u00e1, Chile, China, Rep\u00fablica Tcheca, Finl\u00e2ndia, Fran\u00e7a, Alemanha, Hungria, \u00cdndia, Ir\u00e3, It\u00e1lia, Paquist\u00e3o, Filipinas, Rom\u00eania, R\u00fassia, \u00c1frica do Sul, Espanha, Su\u00e9cia, S\u00edria, Nova Zel\u00e2ndia, Turquia, Gr\u00e3-Bretanha e EUA. A exposi\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 realizada em 45 pa\u00edses e vista por mais de quatro milh\u00f5es de pessoas anualmente.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A World Press Photo, organiza\u00e7\u00e3o independente sem fins lucrativos, promove este que \u00e9 o mais importante concurso internacional de fotojornalismo.
