The Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis<\/a> (MNSR) will mark European Night and International Museum Day in May with after-hours opening and a program of activities aimed at strengthening interaction with visitors.<\/p>\n

On May 13th and 20th, the museum will remain open until 11 pm, with free admission from 6 pm. On May 18th and 19th (Thursday and Friday), the MNSR will also be open until 8 pm, with free admission from 6 pm.<\/p>\n

One of the highlights of the European Night of Museums is the family workshop “Where do the bugs go in the Museum?”, which starts with a nighttime walk through the MNSR and ends with the creation of an artistic composition of spiders.<\/p>\n

International Museum Day brings a diverse program that runs from Thursday to Saturday (May 18th to 20th). Integrated into a collaborative program with museums in the city of Porto, it includes guided tours of the permanent exhibition and the temporary exhibition “Life and Secret of Aur\u00e9lia de Souza 1866-1922,” as well as workshops, a conversation, a concert, and a performance.<\/p>\n

With a new exhibition, the MNSR offers mediation spaces where visitors can learn unexpected details and surprising facts about its history and collections. These spaces seek to provide connections between the visitor and what is on display. Guided tours aim to disseminate and build knowledge with visitors.<\/p>\n

The temporary exhibition “Life and Secret of Aur\u00e9lia de Souza 1866-1922” evokes one of the most striking women in the Portuguese artistic panorama. Learn more about her life’s journey and get up close with the works presented from public and private collections, in a unique and unprecedented dialogue.<\/p>\n
