DSTGroup Provides Artistic Refuge for Four Ukrainian Women in Portugal

The Zet Gallery is set to showcase the artwork of Ukrainian artists Evgenia Antonova, Hanna Kyselova, Oleksandra Skliarenko, and Margaryta Alfierova, who took up residence at the gallery in the first half of 2022. The four women will present their latest works, including photography, painting, and sculpture, in an exhibition entitled “Other Impressions” at the Garagem Avenida/Teatro Jordão in Guimarães. The exhibit, which opens tomorrow and runs until April 2, is the second part of a project that reflects on a forced journey that uprooted their lives.

DSTGroup played a crucial role in facilitating the residency for the artists by awarding them artistic residencies with €1,000 per month and providing resources for the production of their work. “We wanted to ensure that these artists not only had a space to live for themselves and their families but also the opportunity for a decent job in their creative fields, including the possibility of exhibiting and selling their art,” said José Teixeira, President of DSTGroup.

Last September, the artists showcased their first pieces created in Portugal at an exhibit entitled “First Impressions,” which ran for 60 days at the Zet Gallery in Braga. The exhibition, which has emotional resonance, reflects the journeys of four talented women who left everything behind in a war-torn country and continued to search for hope and victory.

“The works are surprising, and this exhibition should not be missed for the emotional charge it represents and reflects from these four talented women,” said Helena Mendes Pereira, Director of the Zet Gallery.

The exhibition is being held in conjunction with the ENED – National Design Student Conference.
