Festival Temps d’Images kicks off with absolute premiere of play “Este Peixe é um Robalo”

The 21st edition of the multidisciplinary festival Temps d’Images has begun its first phase, Momento I, with the absolute premiere of the play “Este Peixe é um Robalo,” created by António Alvarenga and Cristóvão Cunha. The festival opened on May 24th at the Mercado do Rato and runs until June 11th, featuring a diverse range of performances, installations, films, and more.

The Momento I phase includes six absolute premieres and nine works of theater, performance, dance, film, and installation, all presented in iconic and unexpected locations throughout Lisbon.

“Este Peixe é um Robalo” explores the theme of knowledge, specifically what we know and don’t know about the world around us. The play is a poetic and philosophical reflection on the fish known as the sea bass, and how little we understand about this creature and the environment it inhabits.

Another performance to look out for is “Looking from a window above,” which marks Jessica Guez’s debut in Portugal. The performance, held at the Centro de Artes de Lisboa, is a blend of exhibition and show, where Guez dances with her paintings. The paintings will remain on display and accessible to the public after the performance.

The Momento I phase of the festival also features three absolute premieres in June: “Os Mortos Têm Todos as Mesmas Penas,” by Truta no Buraco at Damas; “The Wild Flowers,” by Rui Neto at Teatro Ibérico; and the installation “Sete Dias Com o Mar à Minha Esquerda,” by Francisca Manuel at Rua das Gaivotas.

The festival concludes with the performance “1 Ano Antes,” created by Luísa Fidalgo at Espaço Casa Cheia. Temps d’Images has been promoting contemporary art and supporting artists since its inception, fostering the connection between artists, programmers, and audiences while promoting the circulation of noteworthy works.
